READ, HIGH LIGHT & USE IT
As
I told you many times that Wednesday is the English day. English day for the people
of East Nusa Tenggara, NTT. The day that everyone is suggested to speak English
where ever they are. In that day, Wednesday, English is a must.
Based
on that, I have decided to push myself to use English on that day. I use it through
writing. I write for myself actually, but hopefully it is useful for you as well.
Why I push myself using English? Because I need to sharpen it. That is why I
always ask you to master it.
The
question is: “How can I master it?”
First,
you may study it academically in a university. Secondly, you can attend a
course. Or just study it by yourself, autodidact.
If
you study it yourself, do not make it as a burden. Just take it for granted. Start
from the things you understand. Use all words you belong to figure out your thoughts
in any chance. Use them every day as many as you can and you will be accustomed.
This
time I ask you to read a simple story book. Read the words loudly so you can
hear your voice. Do not read in silence if we are still studying. Do not be
afraid to pronounce it wrongly. It is normal. It is usual. Do not make it as a
big deal. Enjoy it.
Mark
the words that influence you so much. When you read book and you come to a word
that is meaningful to you, then mark it. High light it. Underline it. Afterward, use it
in a sentence. Make a sentence use that word. If you do that, it belongs to you already. You own it. It’s
yours.
So,
I think that’s it for today English! Read, high light, and use the word you
understand.
